About Elizabeth Holden

Elizabeth Holden has been fascinated by history since she first discovered Sir Francis Drake at the age of eight.

Since then, she has received a Master's Degree in History at the University of London (King's College), and has pursued an interest in genealogy through innumerable family trees, tracing her own ancestral heritage through more than one thousand people over many centuries.

She is a member of the Association of Professional Genealogists, the British Isles Family History Society of Greater Ottawa,, the National Archives of Canada, and last but not least, the Ottawa Public LIbrary.

Elizabeth has it on good authority - word of mouth by way of long-dead relatives - that she is descended from a pirate named Peter Grant, from an Irish fairy, from the Protestant martyr Sir Nicholas Ridley, from the Plantagenet King Henry II, and from the great Norman hero William Marshall, first Earl of Pembroke. Some of this has turned out to be true. The rest is pending.
